University of Arkansas Sorority Recruitment 2027: Tips from a Sorority Recruitment Coach

If you’re heading to the University of Arkansas in 2027 and thinking about sorority recruitment, you’re probably wondering what you need to do to prepare.

Arkansas sorority recruitment is a big part of the University of Arkansas experience. With 12 Panhellenic sororities, there are plenty of opportunities to meet different women, learn about each chapter and find a sisterhood that feels right for you.

But Arkansas sorority rush is also a process that requires preparation.

There is a résumé, a video, written questions, recommendation letters, social media and plenty of conversations to think about before you ever arrive in Fayetteville.

That’s why my biggest piece of sorority recruitment advice is simple:

Start early.

When Is Arkansas Sorority Recruitment?

University of Arkansas sorority recruitment takes place in August, before the fall semester really gets underway.

For 2027 PNMs, the exact recruitment dates and registration deadlines will be announced by Arkansas Panhellenic as the new recruitment year approaches.

Because recruitment begins so early, you should not wait until you move into your dorm to start getting ready.

Your registration materials, résumé, video and other recruitment details should be on your radar well before you arrive on campus.

How Does Arkansas Sorority Recruitment Work?

Arkansas sorority recruitment takes place over several rounds.

As the week progresses, you’ll visit fewer sororities while having more meaningful conversations with the women in the chapters you are still considering.

The early rounds are about getting introduced to the sororities and learning what each chapter is all about.

As recruitment continues, you’ll have more opportunities to talk about your interests, experiences, friendships, goals and what you’re looking for in college.

Eventually, you’ll reach Preference Round, followed by Bid Day.

The important thing to remember is that you are getting to know them while they are getting to know you.

Arkansas Sorority Recruitment Requires a Résumé

Your résumé is an important part of the Arkansas sorority recruitment registration process.

You’ll want to include the activities, leadership positions, community service, work experience, honors and other experiences that have been meaningful to you.

Your résumé does not need to be overly complicated.

Think of it as a way to give the sororities a snapshot of what you’ve been involved in throughout high school.

And remember: your résumé gets you noticed, but your conversations help them get to know you.

You Also Need a PNM Video

Arkansas also requires a video as part of the recruitment registration process.

This is another opportunity for sororities to see and hear from you before recruitment begins.

Your video should feel natural.

You do not need to give a speech or sound like you’re interviewing for a job. Instead, let your personality come through and answer the question in a way that sounds like you.

This is something I strongly recommend preparing for ahead of time rather than trying to film it the night before registration closes.

What About Recommendation Letters?

Recommendation letters are something I encourage every PNM to think about early.

I recommend that every PNM try to connect with an alumna from each sorority whenever possible.

A recommendation gives an alumna who knows you the opportunity to introduce you to her chapter and share a little about who you are before recruitment begins.

What Should I Know About Arkansas Sorority Rush?

If you’ve never experienced sorority recruitment before, it can be difficult to know what to expect.

You’ll meet a lot of women in a short amount of time.

You’ll hear a lot of information.

You’ll make decisions.

And, yes, you may have moments when you wonder if you’re making the right choice.

That is completely normal.

Try not to focus on having the “perfect” conversation. Instead, focus on being present and actually getting to know the woman sitting across from you.

Ask questions.

Listen to the answers.

Share your own experiences.

And pay attention to how you feel.

What Should I Talk About During Recruitment?

One of the biggest mistakes I see PNMs make is trying to memorize everything they think they’re supposed to say.

You don’t need a script.

Instead, think about the things you genuinely enjoy talking about.

Maybe it’s your sport, your favorite club, your family, your hometown, a volunteer experience, a job, a trip, your major or something you’re excited about at Arkansas.

Think about your experiences and the stories behind them.

That way, when a conversation naturally goes in that direction, you’ll have plenty to talk about.

Sorority recruitment is a conversation, not an interview.

Your Social Media Matters

Before Arkansas sorority recruitment, take a good look at your social media.

Sorority women may see your Instagram or TikTok before they meet you, so make sure your public accounts reflect the person you want people to meet.

You don’t need to completely change your social media.

You also don’t need to create a fake version of yourself just because you’re going through sorority recruitment.

Instead, make sure your feed tells a positive and authentic story.

And honestly, this is good advice whether you’re going through sorority rush or not.

Think of it as your visual resume. Make sure you are presenting the best version of yourself.

Don’t “Choose” Your Sorority Before Recruitment

You may already have a favorite Arkansas sorority.

Maybe you’ve been following certain chapters online. Maybe you have friends who went to Arkansas. Maybe your mom knows someone who was in a particular sorority.

It’s okay to have an idea of what you think you want.

Just don’t let that decision be made before you actually meet the women.

The sorority that looks perfect on Instagram may not necessarily be where you feel the strongest connection.

Give yourself permission to be surprised.

What If You Get Released From a Sorority You Loved?

This can be one of the hardest parts of sorority recruitment.

You may have a chapter that you absolutely loved and then find out you are no longer invited back.

It can hurt.

You may immediately start wondering what you did wrong.

Please don’t make that your story.

Recruitment is a mutual selection process, and there are many reasons chapters make decisions that have nothing to do with your worth as a person.

Take a breath.

Look at the opportunities that are still in front of you.

And keep going.

Your goal is not to convince every sorority to want you.

Your goal is to find the sisterhood where you feel wanted, comfortable and connected.

How Should I Prepare for Arkansas Sorority Recruitment?

Start with the basics.

Get your registration information together early. Work on your résumé. Think about your video. Look at your social media. Start connecting with alumnae for recommendations.

Then move beyond the paperwork.

Think about who you are.

What do you value?

What are you looking for in your college friendships?

What activities are important to you?

What do you want your Arkansas experience to look like?

The more comfortable you are with yourself, the easier it becomes to have genuine conversations during recruitment.
